USER REVIEWS:
dack 7First 25 minutes are some of the best comedic filmmaking you'll ever see, then it limps along for over an hour until picking back up at the end. Needed an editor; shoulda been 90 minutes tops. On the plus side, Jonah Hill is the closest thing I've seen to John Belushi, since, well, John Belushi.
One thing about the Apatow comedies: in spite of all the crude geek fantasy stuff, there's a squishy middle always to be found. He's a romantic softie at heart.
schrowa 9The things that I liked about this movie is the best parts weren't in the previews and the humor showed depth/creativity in the writing.
The movie starts off with a steady drum roll of humor and keeps it rolling. You will know if this movie is for you in the first 5 minutes. Instantly funny. It did feel a little long but it didn't get old.
lalligood 8I'm in line with what dack & schrowa have to say. Often funny, a little long through the middle, well acted, & geeky-with-a-heart.
sme 9A raunchy teen comedy that treats the ladies with respect. getouttahere
Oracle 8Now that I've been trying to miss my blind spots of the year, I can now say that Superbad is one the best comedies of the year -- except that, surprisingly, this one has a true heart. Like Dack and lalligood said, that is the beauty of Apatow comedies: it strips down the superficial crap to dig into something much more profound.
madmitch 8So much fun. Goofy and likeable.
chunkbot 7I liked it, but it has not stood up to repeat viewings the way that say, the Big Lebowski has.
wynns 6It made me feel old. I felt like the crabby old guy that tells kids to turn their music down. I just couldn't enjoy the locker room humor as much as everyone else seemed to. It wasn't a bad movie. I did laugh... but I kept waiting for the comedy bar to be raised as soon as they got the no-brow stuff out of the way. It didn't happen.
A somewhat long 115 minutes. Not so long that you check your watch and start to get uncomfortable... but long.
